Is Churches Severing Ties with Boy Scouts a Fulfillment of the Scriptures

When I first read the article titled “ Churches Sever Ties With Boy Scouts For Accepting Gay Youth” written by David Crary for the Associated Press, I was furious but the more I read, the more it became clear to me that these so-called churches are doing nothing but fulfilling the scriptures as written and taught by Jesus himself.   I say this to the Boys Scouts of America, hold your head up and hold it high, a man more worthy of reverence endured something quite similar to what you may be experiencing now, that man was Jesus Christ. The article reports that “In suburban Atlanta, northern Idaho and a number of other places, churches have moved swiftly to sever ties with the Boy Scouts of America in protest over the vote last month to let openly gay boys participate in Scouting.   But the exodus could soon swell, depending on the outcome of the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting next week in Houston.” Baptist churches in Elizabethtown and Rineyville, Ky., Helen...

Republican House still haven’t learned anything

One has got to wonder how some of the most intelligent people in this world can end up occupying a seat in the House of Representatives and still not be smart enough to know that what you say on the campaign trail is what will be expected from you once you are in office.   Barack Obama should have taught them that.   He was elected and right off the bat, started to fulfill those promises.   If it was going to be demanded from him, surely any person of slightest intelligence would figure it was going to be required from them. The 2010 election was supposed to be about jobs on the campaign trail and when these people signed into office, it all changed to social issues like abortion, big businesses interest, and assault on union and women’s rights and let’s not forgets gays in the military.   On the campaign trail, nearly to a person could be heard saying that Washington wasn’t listening to the American people and all of them promised to do just that.   Privati...

Supreme Court’s decision of the Westboro Church Protest creates a question of morality

As a former US Marine, it pisses me off that a group of idiots are allowed to go to places uninvited and demean the ultimate sacrifice of any one of my fallen comrades.   To don that uniform and be willing to sacrifice your very existence for this nation regardless whether you spent time in combat or not is extraordinary and needs to be honored.   To leave this world after having offered yourself to this nation is the ultimate sacrifice and it should be so in anyone’s book. Having said that I also have to say as a former US Marine, we all have to applaud the courage of those Supreme Court Justices who did not allow personal feelings to go into the true interpretation of the law.   A law that I and my fellow service members offer our lives to protect each and everyday.   While I do not particularly care for the outcome, I still must honor their decision as I pray that others will honor mine.    According to an article written by Associated Press Mark She...

New AIDS Gene therapy excites some but worries others

Associated Press Medical Writer Marilynn Marchione’s article titled Gene therapy raises hope for a future AIDS cure gives those who suffer with AIDS a little ray of hope.   It covers the story for several angles and provides the reader with a full picture of the recent discovery. What is also does is make many feel like celebrating the fact that we do have the capacity to create something that benefits the world as a whole and should make us feel better about the importance of science in our school curriculums.   It reports that “the concept was based on the astonishing case of an AIDS patient who seems to be cured after getting blood cells from a donor with natural immunity to HIV nearly four years ago in Berlin” where “scientists used genetic engineering in six patients to develop blood cells that are resistant to HIV .”   It is quite understandable why “the results announced Monday at a conference in Boston left experts cautiously excited.”   No one wants to cl...
