This too is a story seldom told and often overlooked but this story here points to a much larger issue and it is the issue of how important we think paying child support is over how much more important non-custodial parental involvement is.  The article is titled “ Police: 3-Year-Old Hung Up By Feet, Beaten, Killed In Pennsylvania ” taken from WABC-TV Channel 7 Eyewitness News.  The article reports that “Police say a man and his girlfriend are charged with murdering the girlfriend's 3-year-old son.  District Attorney Tom Hogan of Chester County, Pa., announced the arrests of Gary Fellenbaum and Jillian Tait Thursday morning. Many people believe that the best way to show you love your children is through money and states have even gone as far as to make sure that they get in on that act as well.   Apparently all men who do not pay child support do so because they are deadbeats and the only excuse they use is the excuse of being unemployed. So what really happens to that money which falls in arrears? State legislators have an answer for that and in collaboration with the courts; they have designed a system where even if you do not have a job, they can still place the stone of a deadbeat around your neck.  It doesn’t matter if you are unemployed because now some states are allowed to slap you with child support based on a 40 hour work week at minimal wage.  Now if you still can’t force an employer to hire you, they take it a few steps more by having the state revoke your driving privileges and make a derogatory entry on your credit report.  Don’t know what highly educated person c...

As a dad who has fallen behind on child support, I was very interested in your story yesterday.  It taught me that people often hide behind personal attitudes and use the law to justify their bias.  There are so many saying that it is all about the kids, which I strongly believe is a lie and a cover.  If it really was about the kids, courts would mandate visitation instead of money, parents would seek to unite kids with their missing parent, unless that parent refuses to have anything to do with the child, or has shown signs of abusing the child.  Money does not raise a child nor does it replace the love, attention and closeness of a parent.  You speak of deadbeat dads and you make is sound like anyone who falls behind on child support, does not love, care for or would give their life for their child.   Now the object is to take away driver's license, so how could a decent dad ever find and secure a job depending on rides from other people or RMTD...
