How Democrats can not only take back the House but keep control of the Senate

Media commentators, pundits and reporters would have all of us believing that the mid-term elections are lost to democrats and control of Washington is mostly in the hands of Republicans, an opportunity for them to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.  This is a lie and the proof of this is abundantly clear if those who have the microphone could look past big money and their own personal ambitions.  They need only to get out of their comfort zones and mix with the locals.  Not just those who think like them but spend a little bit more time with those who don’t. The next time you hear anyone say that the Affordable Care Act is a job-killer and their only reason is it restricts business from creating more jobs because it cost business more to do so.  Ask them whether the business they refer to are the same business that has stashed away over 21 trillion dollars in off shore accounts?  As them if these are the same businesses that have been making record pr...

Rope-a-Doping Republicans

Is it just me or does it feel like this Republican Presidential Campaign is off key? One expected a fire in the belly of those who see nothing but the destruction of this nation. The coming together of a group of Americans, more American than all the rest, stepping up to save the world, one state at a time. Instead we got a group of radicals determined to make others bow to their every whim and destroy those who were not willing to bow and say "yesa masa’. We got a Republican Nominee who was us to choose him for the highest job in the land but refuse to take the steps necessary to get the job. He wants us to hire him based on what he says on any given day but not willing to allow us to look under the hood and kick the tires. Reminds me of a used car salesman who refuses to show us the "car fax". His surrogates step to the microphone and repeat whatever lie they were given to say without regards for their own integrity. Thought we wanted people with convictions in thos...

Why the Tea Party is envious of the Occupy Wall Street Movement

You need no more evidence to the answer to the question above than to read the article by Chris Hawley of the Associated Press titled “Anti-Wall St. movement grows to dozens of cities”.   His article is full of reasons why the Tea Party envies the Occupy Wall Street Movement but incase you are a little confused, let’s recap. The Tea Party began as a united group of people from all walks of life banded together to demand change in the government.   Their first priority was the indignation of partisan politics and the refusal to compromise.    Their initial goal was to force all of Washington to work together for the betterment of the nation as a whole, to prevent this economy fiasco from ever happening again and to hold those responsible accountable.   Their movement was about to begin but big money influenced those at the head of this snake and they allowed themselves to be then cooped and controlled by those more radical than they had hoped.   Enters ...

A Layman Answer to the Debt Ceiling/Reduction Problem

It has become the norm for representatives of the people who get elected by promising to work for the few forget that they also must represent the many as well.   When you are elected to office, you carry with you more than those who elected you, you have now become the face of this nation and your actions or inactions reflect upon this nation.   The question which should be asked and answered by those chosen is what kind of face will others see? John Boehner may be judged on how he can not act like the adult because he has to check with Rush Limbaugh before putting a plan on the floor but Eric Cantor will also be judged on his lack of leadership skills when it comes to him whipping the votes to pass anything.   It’s an established maxim that if you cater to the minority instead of the majority, you will always be changing planes in mid-air.   These guys are now doing it without a parachute, or so it appears. If the Republican Party wishes to save itself from the T...

Voters turn on the Hot Seat

It’s time that we all begin to take responsibility for our actions or in the case of the progressive left, inaction.   We are the reason that this is happening because when it was time for us to step up to the plate and keep these freshmen Republicans out of office, we choose to sit back and watch this world implode.   We wanted to send Washington a message to not take us for granted but what we ended up doing was dooming America to this dive off a cliff. Hide behind your reasoning all you want but in your heart of hearts, you know that we did not step up and protect this nation from enemies foreign and domestic as we should.   We did not put our own selfish wants and needs behind the need of the nation as a whole.   We complain about the Tea Party taking us to the cliff’s edge but truth be told, they only had the power to do this because we gave it to them.   Unlike the voters of Wisconsin is calling back representatives who lied and mislead them, they are abl...

GOP primaries is nothing but an exercise in futility

The media is going gaga over who’s in and who’s out of the Republican primary run for their parties nomination, while we still face enormous challenges attempting to get those already in Washington to cease with the “mine is bigger than yours” attitude and get down to doing the people’s business.   While many of us have come to realize that the motto of the Republican party is still to do all that they can to make sure that this president is a one-termer, even if it means defaulting on our debts as a country or letting our people starve because the only bills we want to pass are those that assault women’s rights.   Go back and listen to the freshmen class’s campaign promises and tell me how many of them promised to take away a woman’s right to choose raises taxes on the poor and middle class or privatize Medicare and Social Security. Out of those currently vowing for the nomination, it appears that only one really has any ideas as to what he could do if given the chance of...

Republican gambles to defeat President Obama

Before the ink dried on the ballots electing Barack Obama the 44 th President of the United States, the battle was joined.   It was a battle between those who could not imagine an African-American ever being in the White House and those who wanted change.   All along the way, different types of ammunition was used to defeat this person and to opposition demise nothing they tried worked but there was no giving up for these die-hard real Americans who saw this person as nothing like them. Before he met with the Republicans the very first time, they had gotten together and decided to oppose everything he attempted to do.   Many leaders of the party were already touting his failure and publically proclaiming him a “one-termer”.   They were sure that he would fail, especially on one of his signature legislation skirmishes called Healthcare, that one prominent party member called it his “Waterloo”.   The voters must have figured out their strategy because when they ...

What may be behind the retiring of Democratic Congress Members?

It was reported today that Senator Daniel Akaka of Hawaii has elected not to seek re-election to the Senate and with him are Jeff Bingham of New Mexico, Jim Webb of Virginia, Kent Conrad of North Dakota and Joe Lieberman of Connecticut.   That makes a total of six who have decided to retire and let’s not forget about Jane Harmon who decided to take another job.    Some say that the method is to get them to declare early so that the Democratic National Congressional Committee will have plenty of time to find strong replacements to run for their seat.   Frankly I believe it is much more.   I believe that democrats are taking advantage of the season and the fact that for no other reason Barack Obama will be on the ballot.   This is the season where republicans promised jobs if they were elected and given control of the House while only proposing bill after bill designed to do nothing but keep the unemployment numbers high and drive a wedge between individ...

Elections really do have Consequences

During the midterm when so many progressive groups were piling on DINOs (Democrats in Name Only), they were also giving many democratic voters an excuse to stay home.   It should be abundantly clear now that the advice was flawed.   Staying home allowed the House of Representatives to be taken over by the Republicans and it gave State Legislatures a new look as well as ushered in a new crop of Governors with them.     This is the result of sitting home while your country cries out for involvement and a new direction. The House of Representatives promised to focus on jobs but so far all we have heard is an all out assault on women rights.   Not one job has been created and so far the message is focused on cutting more jobs and putting many more out of work.   There were opportunities to create jobs with this new vision of high speed rail but many Governors are saying no to that as well.   Talking bout budget shortfalls, would not creating the environme...
