Did the Obama Administration just outsmart the Supreme Court?

This is a question that many of us will differ on but let me lay it out basing it on the many different decisions made by the majority on the Supreme Court and you can make up your own mind. In case many of you think that I might want to make up these things, I am going to use the information provided by the article titled “ Obama Administration Calls the Supreme Court’s Bluff In Hobby Lobby ” written by Ian Millhiser for ThinkProgress.  In this manner, you still may not believe but at least you will have plenty of other choices to find out more to better inform your decision, perhaps.  Let’s start at nearly the beginning. , “For most of the last year, the Supreme Court has forced the Obama Administration into an elaborate dance, where the Court hands down orders casting doubt upon the administration’s efforts to ensure that all women have access to affordable birth control — while simultaneously implying that everything would be fine if the administration just designed ...

When Women need us the most, Men run away

There is a cry that can be heard all around this nation and it goes totally unheard.   This cry is from the mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, nieces and aunts of every single male out there and being a male when we claim to always be there for the most important people in our lives, we fail greatly when it comes to those previously mentioned.   How you ask?   We fail because we minimize, ignore and refuse to try and understand the real crisis they faced when it comes to their reproductive rights and decisions. No man knows better than any woman what is best for them when it comes to what they should do with their bodies and all of us need to get back and support their decisions when it comes to this.   The majority of us would be pitching a fit if women were making decisions about what we should do with ours.   I guess by now some of you are asking the question of what is I talking about and it is an medical procedure called a hysterectomy. A hysterec...

Is Mia Love Republican of Utah the GOP Extremely Literate Conservative African-American

Well lookie here, the GOP may have finally found it’s “extremely literate conservative African-American.   Who says that wishes do not come true? According to Jonathan Karl of ABC News in his series Spinners and Winners he profile Mia Love of Utah as a New Kind of Republican?    He reports that “ Mia Love is unlike any Congressional candidate ever -- she is African-American, she is Mormon, and she is conservative. Republicans have deemed her race in Utah's newly drawn 4th district one of the top ten most important races in the country, vowing to spare no expense to get her to Congress. If she wins, Love would be the first black Republican woman ever elected to the House of Representatives.”   Her major concerns as reported in the piece is debt and deficit and do not see any need to raise taxes even though it was pointed out in the interview that she did raise property taxes while serving as mayor.   My only wish was that while she was so visible and w...

Wisconsin Wife proves Contraception Debate a Farce

As her husband lay dying on the floor of their Cessna plane, an 80 year old wife and mother takes the controls and with very little pilot training, safely lands the plane and gets her husband medical attention.   What other lesson need you learn to know the true strength and power women have at their disposal.   According to Christina Ng of Good Morning America, her article titled   “ Wisconsin Wife, 80, Lands Plane for Dying Pilot Husband” details a story that is one for the history books and one from which we can all draw strength and courage from.   In the article is reports that “a frail 80-year-old Wisconsin woman spent a harrowing 90 minutes learning how to handle a Cessna plane and then land it after her husband, who had been piloting the plane, collapsed while at the controls.   Helen Collins successfully landed the plane as it was running out of gas and an engine sputtering.   Helen Collins had called 911 to say that "her husband, the pilo...

Are the Republican and Independent Women exempt from the banning of Contraception?

I ask this question because I am hearing and seeing women voting for those who support this recent rash of an assault on women.   Politicians who have signed bills to make rape legal as long as it is done by her doctor and refuse to step up and stand out by publically calling for an end to this assault.   They voted because it is said that they are not a single issue voter and while I can respect that, I cannot understand how one can justify voting for or supporting someone who do not see them as intelligent enough to know what to do with their own body. I have a mother and sisters, daughters and a loving girlfriend.   I would like to think that as a former US Marine, I fought and was willing to lay down my life so that they would be free to choose what life they wanted for themselves.   Where they would be free to choose their own destiny without governmental involvement from state or federal.       A life where the final decision is theirs wh...

What is not News?

I was again surprised to find that the top political news of the past few days were the new poll taken which showed Republicans voters still thinking that President Obama was a Muslim or didn’t know either way.   I wasn’t surprised by the numbers but more surprised by the cable news bunch thinking that this was really news.   I mean, what did they expect those numbers to show?   Breaking news would have been had those Republicans interviewed had changed their minds and voted to say that President Obama was a Christian.   This is not news. If you have an elect rid that will whole-heartedly accept the word of other people when they say that they are Christian but refuse to accept the word of Obama, you cannot expect for any other result.   When you have an elect ride that supports the abuse and denial women and their rights to deciding what happens to their own bodies, you cannot expect any other result.   When you have an elect rid that believes the ...

Tea Party loses its Groove

Being trapped in a life of poverty for so long, I am quite aware of how disappointing it is to believe in something or someone and have that faith shattered.   This is probably what many in the Tea Party is now feeling after starting off with such great promise only to now be seen as a meager figment of its former self.   Confused as to my announcement so far, let me explain. The Tea Party first formed to hold officials accountable, lessen the role of government in our everyday lives, curb the spending and bring in leaders who will create jobs.   They have failed on 3 of the 4.   I give them a pass on the curbing spending mainly because without government involvement, this economy would not be seeing any type of recovery but the other 3 I cannot help but ask each and every remaining person who claims the label of Tea Partier, what happened?   You were given an opportunity to demonstrate what you said that you could do but right now that which you are eat...

The Other Side of Black-Episode Five-The War on Women

In a month where many celebrate the achievements and advancements of African-Americans which contributed a lot to the current status of this nation, another group which has had the same dramatic effect has been the plight of women rights which appears to be under assault by those who claim to want a smaller government but are now willing to place police in the examination rooms.   Take for example the recent decision made by Susan G. Komen to stop funding breast cancer screenings through Planned Parenthood.   In an article by Lylah M. Alphonse titled Planned Parenthood Decision Puts Spotlight on Susan G. Komen's Politics she reports that “The Huffington Post reports the decision came just months after Komen hired Karen Handel to be their senior vice president for policy in April 2011. Handel ran for governor of Georgia in 2010 on a pro-life platform and promised to eliminate state grants to Planned Parenthood, even as she acknowledged that the state money did not fund a...

Contraception Debate is not a War on Religion but strictly a Money Thing

Regardless of how you frame your stance on this debate, one thing is clear.   No one will be happy with the outcome whether there is a compromise or not.   For some it’s about giving all women the same rights and freedom as every other woman when it comes to protecting their health.   For some it’s about being forced to do something that goes against their teachings and their religious freedom and for some it’s about Catholics objection to the co-pay of providing contraception coverage.   For the rest of us it’s one of the best arguments for a single-payer health system which allows businesses to keep that money and re-invest it back into their business or hire more workers.   Either of these would work as a wedge to keep us from finding the correct balance as long as we phrase it as “us against them” so bottom line, no compromise will frankly be many calling card. I to find myself falling into that category some times and can be as stubborn as any...

The Insanity of Santorum

It sometimes appears that events happen without a reason but I am a full-fledged believer in everything happening for a reason.   Even though we may never understand why they happen, there can normally be found a very good reason for them.   It must be made clear, however, that reasoning is totally up to individual interpretation and in that arena, who can really say whose wrong or right. I say that because of the recent fallout over this contraception debate which now has turned into an assault of religion.   Many first complained that the Affordable Care Act forced religious organization to violate their oath of not having anything to do with contraception.   It has now been made clear that many who are complaining the loudest have supported the opposite position in the past.   Mike Huckabee signed an identical law into law when he was Governor of Arkansas; Mitt Romney did nothing to change that same status while he was Governor of Massachusetts, many ...
