Rope-a-Doping Republicans

Is it just me or does it feel like this Republican Presidential Campaign is off key? One expected a fire in the belly of those who see nothing but the destruction of this nation. The coming together of a group of Americans, more American than all the rest, stepping up to save the world, one state at a time. Instead we got a group of radicals determined to make others bow to their every whim and destroy those who were not willing to bow and say "yesa masa’. We got a Republican Nominee who was us to choose him for the highest job in the land but refuse to take the steps necessary to get the job. He wants us to hire him based on what he says on any given day but not willing to allow us to look under the hood and kick the tires. Reminds me of a used car salesman who refuses to show us the "car fax". His surrogates step to the microphone and repeat whatever lie they were given to say without regards for their own integrity. Thought we wanted people with convictions in thos...

The Romney Gingrich Love Affair

Media is missing a large piece of the puzzle as to why there now seems to be a love affair between Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich.   Many want to attribute it to a prime0time speaking spot but it is much simpler than that. The great meeting between Romney, Trump and Gingrich is nothing more than to get them on the same page.   It’s an opportunity for Gingrich to get help from Trump in nailing down the second spot on the ticket.   Yes, that’s right; Newt Gingrich is vying for Vice President.   Image the roar it would create.   Newt is quite strong in the South and Romney needs that.   Gingrich can sling the mud better than most and he can even be convincing when he does it.   Newt matches up with Joe Biden better than many because the knock on Biden is that he is a gaff machine but so is Newt.   Joe Biden can speak to so many subjects without missing a beat and so can Newt Gingrich.   The Vice Presidential Debate would draw millions for no...

Ultimate Sacrifice-Trayvon Martin’s Last Hours

This article is strictly speculation even though it is taken from numerous news accounts, the 911 tapes and reported eyewitness testimony.   It is my account of the final hours in the life of Trayvon Martin.   A young black male takes a few minutes away from watching television and decides to make a quick trip to the local convenience store to pick up his favorite candy and his favorite drink.   He leaves the store and as he made his way back home to his gated community, he makes a phone call to his girlfriend.   As he enters the community he slows his gait to give him more time to speak to the lady in his life.   While walking he looks up and notices an unknown vehicle parked on the street with a man sitting behind the wheel.   He then dons his hood which is attached to his shirt and continues his journey.   As his vision of the driver becomes clearer, he does not recognize the person and decides to change his direction to avoid him. ...

Are the Republican and Independent Women exempt from the banning of Contraception?

I ask this question because I am hearing and seeing women voting for those who support this recent rash of an assault on women.   Politicians who have signed bills to make rape legal as long as it is done by her doctor and refuse to step up and stand out by publically calling for an end to this assault.   They voted because it is said that they are not a single issue voter and while I can respect that, I cannot understand how one can justify voting for or supporting someone who do not see them as intelligent enough to know what to do with their own body. I have a mother and sisters, daughters and a loving girlfriend.   I would like to think that as a former US Marine, I fought and was willing to lay down my life so that they would be free to choose what life they wanted for themselves.   Where they would be free to choose their own destiny without governmental involvement from state or federal.       A life where the final decision is theirs wh...

What is not News?

I was again surprised to find that the top political news of the past few days were the new poll taken which showed Republicans voters still thinking that President Obama was a Muslim or didn’t know either way.   I wasn’t surprised by the numbers but more surprised by the cable news bunch thinking that this was really news.   I mean, what did they expect those numbers to show?   Breaking news would have been had those Republicans interviewed had changed their minds and voted to say that President Obama was a Christian.   This is not news. If you have an elect rid that will whole-heartedly accept the word of other people when they say that they are Christian but refuse to accept the word of Obama, you cannot expect for any other result.   When you have an elect ride that supports the abuse and denial women and their rights to deciding what happens to their own bodies, you cannot expect any other result.   When you have an elect rid that believes the ...

North Korea says no to Nukes and Hamas breaks with Iran highlights today’s Obama Administration’s Foreign Policy

Commentators, pundits and experts wonder aloud why it is that this President and his Administration does not get the credit that they deserve.   While it is true that it is due to those opposing this president at every step are allowed to misrepresent his accomplishments, it may be also because many news agencies concentrate more on the confrontations than they do the real meat of the argument. Take for example an article written by Laura Rozen for The Envoy titled U.S. announces diplomatic breakthrough with North Korea .   All day today, we have heard nothing much mentioned about this huge milestone in the fight to give credit where it belongs.   Instead they have spoken mostly about the Arizona and Michigan primaries.   Now while that is also an important news story, I believe that something this huge would at least get an honorable mention. In this article Ms. Rozen reports that “t he United States announced a major diplomatic breakthrough with Nort...

The Other Side of Black-Episode Five-The War on Women

In a month where many celebrate the achievements and advancements of African-Americans which contributed a lot to the current status of this nation, another group which has had the same dramatic effect has been the plight of women rights which appears to be under assault by those who claim to want a smaller government but are now willing to place police in the examination rooms.   Take for example the recent decision made by Susan G. Komen to stop funding breast cancer screenings through Planned Parenthood.   In an article by Lylah M. Alphonse titled Planned Parenthood Decision Puts Spotlight on Susan G. Komen's Politics she reports that “The Huffington Post reports the decision came just months after Komen hired Karen Handel to be their senior vice president for policy in April 2011. Handel ran for governor of Georgia in 2010 on a pro-life platform and promised to eliminate state grants to Planned Parenthood, even as she acknowledged that the state money did not fund a...

The Other Side of Black-Episode Two-Blacks and the GOP

I have seen a trend but until recently never really thought about it until now. I would wonder, sometimes, how Blacks could be a part of something that refused to respect their history, a business or organization that looked upon all that they have endured as nothing more than a fluke or irrelevant in many ways.   A business or organization that never considered their struggles or sacrifices but was only useful to have around for no other reason than “window dressing”.     Then it occurred to me, maybe it was for the same reason that women were paraded around in front of the cameras.   Something to use and show that some was not as exclusive as their rhetoric describes them.   I speak about the current GOP and its leaders. During the reign of Herman Cain, I did not see too many Blacks paraded in front of the camera in the GOP to comment on his policies and ideas about what was wrong with this country and his vision of where we should be headed.   Th...

The Exchange between Juan Williams and Newt Gingrich was another Teachable Moment

At the South Carolina Debate much of the discussion center on the exchange between Juan Williams and Newt Gingrich about his comment of President Obama being a “food stamp president”.   While neither seemed to win on what the Newsmax wires called a “racial exchange” in their article titled Gingrich Slams Juan Williams in Racial Exchange , it was clearly revealed that Mr. Gingrich took offense to being called out by Mr. Williams. Being a long-time politician, Newt Gingrich knows how to get his point across without demeaning or belittling the interviewer, only when he feels slighted or defensive does he strike back so violently and without regard.   This is what happened during their exchange.   According to Newsmax, Williams question was defined as badgering.   Here is where they both failed to make any end-roads toward reconciliation. When Williams asked “Can’t you see this is viewed, at a minimum, as insulting to all Americans, but as particularly to black ...

GOP Establishment may be handing Newt Gingrich a win in South Carolina

Latest news being offered regarding the Gingrich Super Pac, Winning Our Future is that “Newt Gingrich begins to distance himself from the "King of Bain" ads” this is according to Joy Lin of Fox News in an article titled Pro-Gingrich Group Asks Romney for Help in Identifying 'King of Bain' Inaccuracies .   While many believe that this ad is what may be propelling Newt Gingrich in the polls, I believe it is something else. One of the most die-hard of any sentiment for Americans is feeling that they are being told who they should vote for.   This is one freedom many will never relinquish.   The established Republicans who fall in line behind Romney may soon learn that their wish is not always the command of the voters.   Voters know that they are really the ones who decide the person or persons that they wish to represent them and no matter how much the establishment yells, their voices could fall on deaf ears. The only problem with this is the voters still hav...

The Herman Cain Debacle

On Fox this Sunday Herman Cain, the 2012 Republican Candidate and former Godfather Pizza owner was asked about the Israel Palestine situation and you could clearly see that he had no earthly idea about it.   Why these patriots who step up to complain about the way this country is headed, not first form and confirm solutions before they speak, I have no idea.    But then I guess that what makes America so great.   We can have opinions about something and be given a platform to spout those opinions but really are not required to know anything about the subject of those opinions. Mr. Cain looked like a deer caught in the headlights when asked about the return of refugees, his response was both incoherent and poorly comprised.   If he had been a batter swinging at a pitch, you would have seen him screw himself right into the ground.   While I admire Mr. Cain’s spirit to step up to the plate, I only wish he would have better prepared himself for his debut. ...

The real reason the GOP is having problems fielding good 2012 candidates

Phillip Elliott’s Associated Press article titled No go in 2012: Ind. GOP Gov. Daniels not running talks about “Gov. Mitch Daniels, R-Ind., said Sunday he won't run for president because of family concerns, narrowing the field but making a wide-open race even hazier.”     It speaks to “the Republican establishment who longed for a conservative with a strong fiscal record to run.   Polls show that Republican primary voters want more options in a race that includes former Govs. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, as well as ex-House Speaker Newt Gingrich and others” but what this article did not speak to was why. The answer is clear; Republicans are now traveling the same road that caused one of their own members to call the Republican name unwanted “dog food”.   Republican controls the House of Representatives, many State Houses and Senates and even Governors offices.   They ran on job creations and smaller government.   They pro...

Is this really news

Philip Elliott of the Associated Press pens an article titled Romney: Obama 'threw Israel under the bus' in which he reports that “Republicans looking to unseat President Barack Obama charged that he undermined the sensitive and delicate negotiations for Middle East peace.   Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman said Obama undercut an opportunity for Israelis and Palestinians to build trust, acknowledging he didn't watch Obama's speech and was reacting to news coverage.   Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said Obama "threw Israel under the bus"; former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called it "the most dangerous speech ever made by an American president for the survival of Israel."   "The current administration needs to come to terms with its confused and dangerous foreign policy soon, Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania said in a statement.   Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota called the border suggestions "a shocking display of betrayal" to I...
