It is so breath-taking and refreshing to see or hear about a human being that refuses to follow directions from their superiors that they object to and in some cases these objections are not very popular within the community as a whole but every once in a while it is.  This is one of such a case where standing up for right did come at a price but not one paid by those who make a courageous decision to display their spine.  The story in question comes to us from Reuters written by Daniel Wiessner and titled “ CVS required workers to racially profile shoppers, lawsuit claims” The story claims that “managers at CVS Pharmacy Inc. stores in New York City required loss prevention staff to racially profile shoppers and subjected minority employees to racist slurs, a lawsuit against the Rhode Island-based company claimed. If you have been listening to politicians in both Washington and the numerous states within the United States, you have heard that many proclaim their disdain for Sharia Law and some have even went as far as to make it against the law to use sharia Law here in the United States. As this election season begins to heat up, I never really placed much thought in the ideas of those who seemed so far removed from the economic issues of this nation when it comes to anything especially foreign affairs but with the recent deluge of comments coming from these individuals, it has raised a question or two. All of us have heard the members of the Tea Party from all the different parts speak so highly about a smaller government and how they want to reduce the involvement of government in our lives.   We’ve heard them say this but we have witnessed and are witnessing their elected representatives do the exact opposite.   Prime example is the article written by Joe Wolverton, II of The New American titled Tennessee Divests Teachers Union of Collective Bargaining Power   in which he reported that “on June 1, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam signed a bill eliminating the collective bargaining “rights” of teachers in the Volunteer State.”   It quotes the Speaker of the Senate, Ron Ramsey (R-Blountville) saying “It matters who governs. As a former US Marine, it pisses me off that a group of idiots are allowed to go to places uninvited and demean the ultimate sacrifice of any one of my fallen comrades.   To don that uniform and be willing to sacrifice your very existence for this nation regardless whether you spent time in combat or not is extraordinary and needs to be honored.   To leave this world after having offered yourself to this nation is the ultimate sacrifice and it should be so in anyone’s book. Call it wishful thinking if you want but after reading and article titled China drops death penalty for some economic crimes by Associated Press writer Gillian Wong, it is worth thinking about.   In the article it is described that “China dropped the death penalty for more than a dozen nonviolent crimes Friday and banned capital punishment for people over the age of 75 in largely symbolic moves that are not expected to significantly reduce executions.”   It was also reported that “the committee also widened the scope of punishment for subversion to include the funding of domestic and foreign groups to commit crimes that endanger national security. It approved stiffer penalties for food safety violations, and made it a crime for employers to hold back workers' wages.”   While this may not be “the smoking gun” to experts who know much better than I about these sorts of things, it does cause me to wonder.   I wonder because some of these things are the exact things ...

The longer this unrest in Libya goes on the stronger the chance that the real fighting will begin soon.   While the protestors have carried the bulk of the fight to Moammar Gadhafi, soon those in its military will stop sitting on the sideline and get into the game.   When that happens the world will begin to see a serious push toward Tripoli and the massive surrender of those though to be loyal to Gadhafi.   I say this because as a former member of the military, one can only sit idly by while the majority of their countrymen and women are mowed down by a dictator with nothing but disdain for his own people.   Those with training in military tactics will soon get their fill of seeing their fellow citizens being shot like fish in a barrel and remember that the oath they took was to defend those who can not defend themselves and their country from enemies which may now have become domestic.   They will soon realize that Gadhafi has become the oppressor of freed...

It’s been a long time coming but finally its here.   A decision that no longer forces one belief over another and offers to all equality seldom seen but often sought.   My pride for this administration just shot up several notches. According to Pete Yost of the Associated Press reports in his article titled Gov't drops defense of anti-gay marriage law the Obama administration said Wednesday it will no longer defend the constitutionality of a federal law banning recognition of same-sex marriage.   Attorney General Eric Holder said President Barack Obama has concluded that the administration cannot defend the federal law that defines marriage as only between a man and a woman.
