A Broken Justice System-The Fox guarding the Henhouse

The American justice system was designed so that all who attend would receive a fair and balanced judgment.  All would get fair and balanced treatment but like all other things man tends to control and screw up, so goes our justice system.  It does not begin and end with the cops on the beat nor does it begin and end with riches being the primary resource necessary.  It simply begins and ends with those in authority failing to remember that justice is blind, that all are innocent until proven guilty and that all deserves the same amount of respect as those in charge demand.  It simply begins and ends with those at the top.  If the boss is setting an example of intolerance, then those under him/her are also going to develop that way of thinking.  To lead by example is the primary ingredient necessary for a decent society and the true mark of a leader.  Not having it means that fixing this system was died long before it was even born. In an article ...

The Hidden Truth Behind all Crimes

Greater minds than mine has called themselves studying this dilemma regarding the primary reason or reasons behind why crimes are committed and if you check on their progress you may find a few strange and mysterious reasoning’s to include but no limited to a defective brain, destined by DNA, criminal mothers or fathers or just plain bad people.  Today’s great minds have now concluded that it is more about the over-whelming desire to have the better things in life with money the only real avenue to that dream and some may settle on the over-whelming lead level in the local drinking water causing mental and physical impairments that so far, a pill cannot cure. All these may make sense to many and seem fine to accept by others but there is another truth behind all crimes which many fear to admit and hide to avoid personal responsibility.  It is said that the primary reason behind crimes is the opportunity to commit it but think about it.  We believed this at one time e...

Even Ignorance cannot save you from this Unbalanced Justice System

You ask me why I say unbalanced justice system and I simply have to answer, pick up a local paper, magazine or turn on the news and look closely at those stories reported that are similar in circumstances.  If you are able to see the difference in reporting and the results then you may understand why I say unbalanced but if you cannot then maybe it’s just me who is unbalanced. Take this article titled “ Chicago man convicted of murder for giving teen niece gun used in fatal Facebook confrontation ” written by Jason Silverstien for the New York Daily News  In this article it talks about an uncle giving his niece a stolen gun and escorting her to the home of the girl she ended up shooting.  In a court of law, he was convicted of murder for his ignorant judgment of giving his niece a gun and going with her as if this was the adult way to handle any dispute.  How I see this as unbalanced is Tamir Rice is dead because someone gave that officer who was seen as unfit b...

The Arrogance of American Justice

There is not much that can get my dandruff up more than seeing an official abuse their authority or say one thing while doing another.  You see this a lot in politicians, promising one thing on the campaign trail but seemingly to quickly forget their first few hours in office but they are not as closely related to the community as a whole than those elected to sit on our benches in our courts.  Most Americans see this place as the only place left on earth where they can get a fair shake and the impartiality of those wearing that robe would listen, hear and understand their plight, provide them with a sense of belonging and even help where ever they could.  Today’s justice is not benched with judges such as these but people with their own agenda, their own bias and an overwhelming mixture of self-importance.  This can clearly be seen in the case reported by an article titled “ Florida judge berates domestic abuse victim, sentences sobbing woman to jail ” by Melissa C...

America’s newest Get Rich Quick Scheme Backfires

I, like many, are not above suing another person or company if I believe that they are purposefully deceiving me and many times if you offer me any kind of settlement, I will first look at the money instead of the principal but this would be designed to aid in my quest for enormous wealth and while I do not begrudge anyone discovering their pots of gold, I do draw the line at those who stand on the necks of others only to later claim a more lofty calling. Those who are wronged should be able to receive restitution but to collect pennies while those who claim to care about your plight and can feel your pain collect major dollars is another case of standing on the necks of others.  Just received this notice and there are a few points that I would like to share with you. “Claim ID: BXISQ-KKURM-ZILNA NOTICE OF PENDING CLASS ACTION AND NOTICE OF PROPOSED SETTLEMENT PERKINS V. LINKEDIN CORP. You are receiving this e-mail because you may have used LinkedIn's Add Connections...

Biker cries foul Waco shooting and lawyer seeing no way out

We are all entitled to our day in court and have the right to present our case as to why we are not guilty of what we are charged with but to begin so early to attempt to discredit those who oppose you leaves me to wonder why.  Could it be because you know that they have the facts on their side and the results of a verdict from any kind of jury would lead to you being found guilty or is it because privileges have been extended to you that others can only dream about? The article is called “ Lawsuit alleges Waco biker grand jury conflict of interest ” written by Emily Schmall for the Associated Press and it reports that “ a biker arrested after a deadly shootout involving bikers and police in Waco, Texas, argued Friday that it's a conflict of interest for a policeman to preside over the grand jury that may hear his case.  Matthew Clendennen, who sued after he was one of 177 bikers arrested following the shootout, alleged in a court filing that James Head's presence as fore...

Teachable Moment from the Deaths of the Innocent

No one likes to see a young life snuffed out before it even has a chance to grow but many times bad things happens for a good reason and provides us with an opportunity to correct the direction in which we are headed if we would only heed that chance and get the hint. I speak about the recent unnecessary deaths that have occurred in the past few days like the ones I list below;  For our local news 23 WIFR | Rockford, Illinois the title of the article is “ Baby Struck by Vehicle, Driver Leaves the Scene ” and it reports that “Police are searching for the driver who they say hit a 22 month old baby with a car and took off, leaving the child in serious condition.  It happened just before 7:30 pm on Ashland Avenue, which is right next to Andrews Park on Rockford's west side. Investigators were on the scene with an accident reconstructionist and say they are still trying to figure out what happened. Officers say they are now searching for a black Chevy Avalanche with a grey ...

Talk about Crooked Cops, how about Lawless Lawyers

If you are anything like me, you get these types of notices all the time because what has happened to others has also happened to you.  Now because many of these only ends up in you wasting a lot of your time joining with only minimal return.  The return makes all who receive these no longer pay any attention to them and “round file them” or in other words toss them into the nearest garbage can.  Big mistake because what we miss is the language contained within each and every one of this notices and thank you to the lawless lawyers who capture that first victim then make a deal to include the host of millions of other victims, you are now bound by the decision of a court that you weren’t even aware of you were ever a part of.  Case and point. In Allen vs JP Morgan Chase Bank NA claims #: JPA-10354508601, it is written; “NOTICE OF CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND PROPOSED SETTLEMENT THE COURT AUTHORIZED THIS NOTICE. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FROM A LAWYER.  YOU...

The Most Ignored Reason our Justice System is failing

There is a very soft rumor of many now truly beginning to take a serious look at our adult and juvenile justice system.  Some are just now discovering that which those unable to get past a particular point of poverty have known for years.  Both the adult and juvenile justice system sucks and does not work half as well as it should for all Americans.  They see where those with enormous resources can get their voices truly heard in court and considered long before the verdict but when it comes to those who are not privileged with the funds to purchase the assistance of the best attorney in town, their voices are quickly silenced and often never heard at all. For those just now paying attention, their focus is on the length of sentences or if the judgment set down by the courts really does fit the crime.   Their focus is on whether you can get more time selling crack than you get selling high end cocaine or heroin.   No mention of how those providing...

Even the Thin Blue Line limits it Acceptance of the Shades of Black

I have often asked the question of what does those who support wrong think is going to happen once the target of that wrong is done humiliating and degrading them.  Do they think that their task will be over and everyone will then move on to bigger and better things?  There is a story originated by CNN affiliate WFSB reporting “an anonymous letter bitterly insulting African-American officers was recently found in mailboxes at a Connecticut police station.”  It said that this letter specifically mentioned an Officer Higgins who did nothing to restraint the police brutality caught on tape and even joined in on the misconduct.  The fact that he was acquitted on those charges and this letter being found says to me that he may have spilled his guts about the other officers involved and therefore needed to be reminded of the power of their Police Union.  He joined them as many under the hood of a white sheet did but now he is a target so what does that say to the res...

Personal Agendas places Selfishness over Righteousness in Journalism Today

For reform seekers, sometimes our best argument for reform gets lost and forgotten within the selfish need of others to make a point.  Just in case you have no idea what I am talking about, I would like for you to consider two different cases, each has its own merit screaming for reform but both enjoying the “loose lips” of those who attempt to define the struggle for change clearly blocking the one true argument for it. The first case comes to us from writer Jackson Marciana writing for Counter Current News in an article titled “ Woman Accidentally Shot and Killed By Cop While Trying To Hug Him ”.  In this article he writes “Adaisha Miller was celebrating the weekend before she turned 25 when she was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer.  Miller had been dancing with the Detroit officer, and upon coming in for a hug, his improper method of carrying his firearm resulted in its accidental discharge.  Adaisha’s mother, Yolanda McNair said that all of this...

The Violations of Civil Rights by Children Protective Services goes National

Many times, you read an article and think that this kind of stuff only happens to other people.  This allows you to disconnect and not really feel the pain that is the pain of those without resource or a course of action to help them in their situation.  But every once in a while a story crosses your path that reminds you that what you have endured is not exclusive and has happened to others.  You find out that what you thought was only happening to you in your state is happening to others in other states and now you feel their pain. This very thing happened to me when I read an article titled “Couple Brings Sick Baby to ER, the Next Day Police Show Up and Kidnap All of Their Children” by Matt Agorist for The Free Though Project taken from a story by Bridget Bennett for KSFY TV an ABC Affiliate.  In the article Matt and Bridget speak about “Molly Bowling and Michael Becker just spent Christmas without their children after police, acting on behalf of Child Protec...

Why Black on White Hate Crimes are no seen as such

Ran across this article titled “ Former Marine Brutally Beaten as Revenge for Ferguson; Told Waffle House ‘Not Safe for Whites’; Race-Hustlers Silent ” written by Jennifer Burke.  Was first lured to it because of the title former Marine and being one myself, had to try and find out more about what she was reporting that happened.  What I got out of the article was not that this is truly a hate crime but the constant ramblings of an ideological writer whose idea of reporting the news turned out to be nothing more than an opportunity to rant. The article reported that “Now, it looks like we potentially have our first case of a vengeance based hate crime by individuals who targeted a white guy in the name of justice for Michael Brown.  Former U.S. Marine Ralph Weems, a 32 year old white male, was left with life-threatening injuries after being followed by a mob of 20 black men then beaten. Prior to the attack, Weems, who is a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, en...

Family Questions Jail Time of Miami man in Medicare Scam

Received an article titled “ Miami man gets 15 years in nation's biggest Medicare therapy scam ” in which it is reported that “a Miami physician's assistant who was described by his lawyer as a "bit player" in a nearly $200 million mental health scheme to swindle Medicare was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Tuesday.  But it could have been worse for Roger Bergman, 65, of Miami, who was facing up to 25 years under federal sentencing guidelines for his supporting role in the biggest mental-health clinic scam ever orchestrated against the taxpayer-funded Medicare program.  Bergman, convicted in July of a fraud conspiracy, conducted bogus evaluations of hundreds of patients and falsified their records to dupe Medicare into believing they needed the costly therapy services, according to trial evidence.  Bergman is among the last of about 40 defendants who have been convicted in the high-profile criminal case of American Therapeutic Corp. The Miami-based company, with a...

No One in America is Free and Liberated

You say that you live in a free and just society but you lie.  This society is not free and it is definitely not just unless you count the numerous times when the rules favored you or an event happened to satisfy your need.  If you count those times then perhaps you may have a point but I ask you.  When the rules favored you or that event happened to satisfy your need, how then is society free and just if during those times those same rules or that same event was unjust or binding to another.  Unless you wish to redo your calculations of what free and just really mean but only to you and now say that this society is free and just whenever the rules favor you or an event happen to satisfy your need and to hell with everyone else.  Then perhaps you may have a point. I vocalize this rant to try and get as many people to see that the old saying holds true.  The old saying is “we are our brothers and sisters keeper”.  Whether you wish to admit it or no...

Landlords Authorized to Legally Violate Tenants Rig

If you have ever tried to rent a home or apartment, you know that the most important and often repeated phrase by any landlord is “have to check your credit”.  While this may provide landlords a moment of control and sanity, it violates the rights of potential tenants and lends them to be pre-judged based upon a piece of paper which may or may not be correct.  Lord knows how often you find mistakes on your credit report and the gamut of games you have to play to get it cleared.  This always happens after the fact, however, and the opportunity to relocate, secure and settle your family is lost.  Now the character of that potential renter is damaged, the degree of depression it casts upon that renter is palatable and an inquiry is added which will decrease that all important number which all things are based upon called a score.  But the most damaging thing out of all those is that this act of insanity continues because landlords, far and wide, have been allo...

Cop Shootings is not all about Race

Recently I found myself getting more and more annoyed with African-Americans whose only take on the recent rash of police shootings is that race is what was behind it.  I don’t disagree with that but those with the opportunity to get in front of a camera must also realize that it is not the only reason.   In an effort to try and fix the entire problem instead of the issue that only blacks feel, we need to look at one more blatantly obvious sign that many are blinded to. It’s not as much about race as it is about the perception of wealth. Take for example the thought pattern that runs through the head of any officer who is about to pull over an influential person.  The first thought is not about whether they are guilty of the reason why the officer is pulling him over but that what the results may be after he does so.  You can bet that he/she knows that if they were to even think about pulling them over, they had better have all their ducks in a row.  T...

Roger Goodell and the NFL not the first but may just be the last

There is a major rumbling and it centers on National Football League (NFL) commissioner Roger Goodell and his handling of the Ray Rice Domestic Violence Incident.  So many are screaming for his head on a platter and a few are hastily racing over to stand in his corner.  Between these two camps we have heard everything that could have ever been dreamed up for defense and prosecution but has anyone ever though to just stop to see the bigger picture. Yes, there is a great point made saying that the cover-up is all about big money and the serious chance of a huge loss in revenue.  This might mean that the owners may have to sell a few of their many vacation homes and high paid players might have to give up a few time shares and there are a few well-paid non-essential people who attach themselves to players and teams who may have to revise their resume but in the end, it is more than just about money. Yes, there is a great point about domestic violence not being toler...

The Education of a Nation

Far be it for me to try and tell people how they should live and what decisions they should make but there comes a time in every life when those who know better should do better.  During these times, one may need to remind and review in order not to repeat history but learn from it.  It is becoming quite apparent that this is the time.  I direct this first to the African-American Community, then to this nation as a whole.  My purpose for first the African-American Community is because it is a community of which I am a part of and have a clearer understanding of what might have caused us to slip into this false sense of security and entitlement.  Addressing this with the nation that both my community and my nation cease the hoping that things will change, discard the avoidable desire to just stick their heads in the sand and realize that only through a continual working at it and learning from make many of us began to see that just wishing things for change or w...

NFL Domestic Violence Policy, a Three Sided Coin

Many news agencies are applauding the new stance that NFL (National Football League) Commissioner Roger Goodell has taken on domestic abuse by members of this organization and while I can clearly see why, there are still two other sides of this coin that seems to be lost in the conversation. In his article titled “N.F.L. Domestic Violence Policy Toughened in Wake of Ray Rice Case”, Ken Belson wrote “In a rare mea culpa, N.F.L. Commissioner Roger Goodell said Thursday that he had mishandled the Ray Rice case, in which the Baltimore Ravens running back was suspended for two games after being accused of assaulting his fiancée.”  “My disciplinary decision led the public to question our sincerity, our commitment and whether we understood the toll that domestic violence inflicts on so many families,” Goodell said in a letter to team owners. “I take responsibility both for the decision and for ensuring that our actions in the future properly reflect our values. I  didn't  g...
