As Christians, we have been led to believe a lie that has been propagated by many of those standing behind the pulpit as well as those who may have never stepped foot in a church.  We have been told that if we believe strong enough, pray hard enough and have an undying faith, God would grant us with all that we desire.  We believe it because so many entrusted to show us God’s way and deliver the Good News as only they can have said so.  They have used passages from the Bible to show how powerful he is and even reminds people of how his son Jesus turned water into wine.  But what they refuse to tell us is that God foes not deliver present like the mythical Santa at Christmas.  What our father does is open the doors necessary for you to receive those things you prayed for but it is up to us to reach out and grab them, to turn that knob and walk through to show that we deserve these things by fighting our way to them instead of waiting on God to deliver them on a ...

I have had many opportunities to try and explain why many in the African-America community have a distrust of law enforcement but were never really able to capture it before I read this article titled McGill student's run-in with U.S. border agents prompts lawsuit written by Benjamin Shingler for the Canadian Press.   I believe it captures the very essence of what many of us feel when it comes to trusting that law enforcement is here to protect us with the same vigor as they protect other races.   The article centers around “a Montreal university student was detained at the U.S. border, held for several hours, interrogated, had his personal belongings searched and saw his computer confiscated for over a week.   What caught the authorities' attention? I’ve read a little about the pipeline dispute but still can never really paid that much attention to it until now.   The earth-shattering issue seems to be more manufactured than magnificent.   It could be quite easily solved if all parties would truly be willing to fix the problem instead of playing political games. Matthew Daly of the Associated Press reports in his article titled “ Obama, Congress begin 2012 in oil pipeline dispute “that “ President Barack Obama and Congress are starting the election year locked in a tussle over a proposed 1,700-mile (2,735-kilometer) oil pipeline from Canada to Texas that will force the White House to make a politically risky choice between two key Democratic constituencies.”   His article covers the enormous fight that would occur and how greatly President Obama would suffer with this choice.   While I can agree that some who supported this president in the past may be extremely pissed and pledge their loyalty to others but if...
