  “ In America, 39 million adults don't have a high school diploma and one way or another, they're getting by” but this is only the beginning trappings of how those who have lost faith in themselves may become a slave to society’s current attitude of failing to correct a problem before it grows seemingly too big to solve.   There are three major reasons why obtaining a high school diploma is in the best interest of not only the individual but this entire nation.   The first is employment because the requirement to get a decent job will require at least a high school diploma.   The second is educational requirement necessary to elevate yourself in the job market and the third and final is self-esteem. When it comes to success, many measure it by the amount of money you have, the number of possessions that you possess or the level of power or influence you exhibit.  While all of these have been measures that many of us have used, it is not the ultimate determining factor of anyone’s success.  Money can be gained not by what you have accomplished but by what others may have left for you.  Possessions will never be the ultimate because in order to truly own anything, you must be able to take that possession with you wherever you go and we all know that when your earthly life expires, none of those possessions will ever be able to travel with you.  The level of power and influence is the only one of the three which can be felt long after you have graduated from the earthly shell which houses your soul but that is only apparent or useful to those that you may have made contact with while you were living in the flesh. The majority of American veterans do not wish a “hand-out” or to be dependent upon anyone except themselves but today’s “go-getters” seem determined to ignore the veteran’s need for dignity and think that just by throwing money at them, they will soon melt away.  Many “go-getters” seemed determined to not fix the problems faced by veterans because what would they have to run on if they do.  Much that could be done to restore a veteran’s dignity and possible reduce suicides, homelessness and high unemployment among the very group many claim to support, is not being done and one has got to wonder why.  This desire to just sit on your hands and complain instead of doing all that you can do to make real change has now infected many who served or are currently serving.  Consider these situations:  A Marine with over 9 years in Law Enforcement is seems not as an equal to a civilian with 3 years.  The civilian will be featured first for any top job within law e...

There are hundreds of people who rail against what they call “the welfare state” that we are in.  Many prominent players have been quoted as calling some “the takers” and others “the givers” and some have settled with the labels and titles of “the haves and the have nots” but all are really saying the same thing.  They divide this nation into section probably because it is easier for their minds to wrap around if this very large pie was divided into sections instead of seeing the entire forest.  The sad part is that many of whom gravitate to these labels or titles are typically not those who live within them.  The takers are not those who call themselves takers because to them they do not take but to a giver who gives but never receives, they may just seem like it.  It’s pitiful that we need these divisions in order to even pretend to deal with each other as human beings but until we get to the point where each of us look at the other as a real true human bein...
