I don’t often place much stock in old wise sayings or  other kinds of superstitions but every once in a while a thought occurs to me which not only revives those old sayings but possibly creates another in my mind which I believe is placed there to share.  For some reason or another, I awoke this morning with a thought of cleanliness being next to Godliness just like arrogance is next to ignorance, I’ll explain. If you were privy to this saying as I was growing up, we used to hear it all the time especially when parents wanted us to learn to properly bathe ourselves and not put on the very same clothes we had been wearing the past week.  Since it was told to us that being clean brings you closer to God, we then applied that to our understanding of how to tell if the people we meet on the street was Godly people or sinners.  Society began to take this saying to new heights and even used it as a form of discrimination which also allowed us to distance ourselves fr...

Many people take pride in a label or tag for different reasons but one of the constant reasoning is the belief that if you own a label or tag, you then remove the control it has over you and recover that control over it.  Now while I can see some truth in this, there are still words that I personally would never seek to take ownership of the number one word for me is Niger.  It started out as learning about the origin behind this label and the results of usage of this term.  The pain, suffering and deaths that are associated with this word made me decide early in the game never to accept it as part of my character, my definition or my reason.  I saw the nooses and even felt the pulling of one around my own neck once so trying to tell me that it was okay for anyone of any color to use the word as if only a selected few had the right to use it only made me see them as nothing more than ignorant of this origin and these results.  The more I thought about it, t...

Living in these times, the question always surfaces as to why many of us have a very hard time seeking and finding equal treatment or equal justice.   Some rationalize that it is all about money and others say that it is because we refuse to fight for it as hard as those who came before.   It may be a little bit of both but one main ingredient that exist but seldom verbalized is the perception of equality and how it affects all things that we come in contact with. First let us describe what we are talking about.   The perception of equality is a trait but not one which is genetic.   It is a trait that we all can possess because it is what I call a teachable trait.   Basically the perception of equality is believing that the world and all that’s in it is equal.   If you perceive that all is equal, you do not feel the need to get involved or see what all the fuss is about.   If you see the glass as half-full or a partially equal society, then you ...
