Montana Resident Rebrands the Klan

In Whitefish, Montana there is an organization with a leader who is attempting to bring back a newer, sleeker and modern take on the old ways of the Klu Klux Klan.  His ideas are mostly the same but his methods seem more human than those of the past.  Gone are the robes and hoods, now what stands before you is a clean-shaven man in a stylish two piece suit. In an article titled “ The hatemonger next door ” by Lauren Fox political reporter for U.S, News and World Report it is reported that “Richard Spencer’s tidy appearance is about more than his sense of propriety; it’s a recruitment tool. Spencer advocates for white separatism and he wants to shake his movement’s reputation for brutality and backwardness.  “We have to look good,” Spencer said, adding that if his movement means “being part of something that is crazed or ugly or vicious or just stupid, no one is going to want to be a part of it.” Those stereotypes of “redneck, tattooed, illiterate, no-teeth” people, S...

Can John Boehner Save the Republican Party

Rep. John Boehner has an opportunity to create a legacy that will live on long after many of us.   He has a chance to turn his party (The Republican Party) around.   There are those whose only concern is to wipe out all of the hard work others have done to make our country great and Boehner has a chance stop them in their tracks.   Like any addiction, the addict must want to change before change can be affected.   Those currently controlling the strings of the party do not wish to change.   John Boehner, by getting the immigration bill, the American Jobs Act, and stopping the squeeze on America even if it takes working with Democrats.   Republicans are looking for anyone with the heart to lead in the taking back of their party; John Boehner could be that person.

Radicalizing our Military

Yesterday, I attended a gathering and was listening to a young man tell me about some of the promises made to him by a Marine Recruiter.   I found myself strangely confused by what I was hearing because it sounded nothing like the Marines that I spent over 9 years in.   It made so little sense that I had to question him about it and was surprised to find that he took offense to my asking. The main question focused on the information that being a felony would not mean anything as far as owning a firearm because the Marines would not only wipe that away but allow him to gather items associated with firearms outside of the realm of the military.   He stated that he would not only be able to own a firearm with his felony conviction but also purchase silencers.   Now while this may not appear such a big deal to most people, it truly concerned me. The Marines, to me, was an organization that prided itself on choosing the best and the brightest to wear that uniform...

Commentators miss excellent opportunity to make news

I am often amazed at how cable news commentators and journalist can go after a news story but make nothing but noise.   The discussion goes not to further the conversation or add any new information to the debate.   Today I was witness to this happening with one of my favorite commentators/reporters, Contessa Brewer of MSNBC.   She had a conversation with two Tea Party activist and the main topic of conversation was Michelle Bachman.   While this may be something that some would be interested in, it did not advance the debate because both were supportive of this person.   I believe that Ms. Brewer missed an opportunity to make news because she kept the conversation there.   I think that if she had asked them their opinion on the collective bargaining issue, on the ultimate number of bills being proposed by the U.S. House of Representatives that have nothing to do with jobs but abortion or if they agreed with the action of many recently published moves of r...
