How to beat Big Money in a Political Election

To a journalist, commentator pundit and reporter, the word is how much money it takes to win an election and the Democrats are having a fit about how much more money will be used in these upcoming elections to get their voices in the public.   They look at the recent Supreme Court over-reaching decision in the “Citizens United” case where they deem corporation people.   Talk about worshipping a golden image. Well when it comes to the presidential election there is a way to beat this monster called money and it is as simple and as plain as the nose on your face.   It’s making one commercial which will not only make the many being created from your opposition obsolete. The argument from the Republicans is that President Obama’s policies are not working and killing business, so to make that lie obstinate create a commercial that repeat these lines.   So when they say that my policies don’t work, ask them about the Auto Bailout. When they say that I don’t ...

Wisconsin Recall Election’s Teachable Moment

Sometimes the hype is not worth the cost and nothing showed it more than the coverage of this Wisconsin recall election.   Many envisioned too much and placed to high a cost on the results.   What it ended up being was another reason why temperance must be weighted with enthusiasm.   While I was as much as excited about the possibility of Wisconsin voters taking back their state from outside forces manipulating those in power, I was always a little reserved about what the outcome would mean.   There is a lesson here and it is quite simple. The lesson is simply put by a backer of Sen. Alberta Darling, whom I believe could have been easily swayed to vote for her opponent, Democratic state Rep. Sandy Pasch and increased her victory by even more.   This one voter could have also reached others just like him and maybe even swayed them to help remove any of the other incumbents in the Wisconsin legislature.   According to Scott Bauer of the Associated Press in h...

Supreme Court Justices shows their activism

All of have heard lawmakers claim that judges on the bench should never be activist and when President Obama attempted to nominated now Justices Sotomayor and Kagan, that was the buzz word from those opposed.   Where are these lawmakers now and why are we not hearing them screaming at the top of their lungs.   Where are the legal watchdog groups or those who say that they care about the legal system?   I know where the media is, they are tied up with lottery winners, low unemployment numbers, Japan’s nuclear crisis, the CIA in Libya, the argument over spring versus Easter, the budget battle and the Tea Party Rally.   It’s especially sad when the news of this happening here in the United States in New Orleans, LA was brought to us by a newspaper in the UK.   If you have not already guessed about which I speak, I’m talking about the article written by David Usborne of the United Kingdom’s The Independent titled Years in jail for murder he didn't commit: 18. Compe...

America’s silent Majority

It used to be called the silent minority but lately it’s been all about the silent majority.   Only God really knows why because for an educated person such as me, it makes no sense otherwise. The Tea Party has invaded and taken over the Party of Lincoln and have decided that what they want they are willing to kill for.   They did this in a country that has maintained its vow of equal rights and even put it in the U.S. Constitution.   They have supported and pushed this desire that government should be small but still large enough to monitor all pregnancies and force women to keep the baby.   They have hid behind the Bible yet instigated the violation of God’s law of “thou shall not kill”.   They want government out of our lives but the power that they wish to take from the federal government; they want to give it to state government.   Can someone please tell me our that keep government out of our lives if you transfer one power of government to another p...

Clouds begin to clear around Campaign Finance and the Citizens United Case

Seems that the Koch Brothers have exposed both Justice Scalia and Justice Thomas when it was revealed that both of them had honored them with a guest appearance at a retreat they were having.   This retreat was supposedly on campaign finance, so the question then becomes should both not recued themselves when the Citizens United case was presented. The O’Jays had a song titled “For the Love of Money” and in it they reviewed several different ways that people would sell their very souls for the love of money.   That song is truer today than it has ever been before.   I am quite aware that money is a necessary evil but really people, how much is enough.   You have two cars in your driveway but you have got to have a couple more.   How much is enough.   You live in a 32 room house with 12 bedrooms when it is only two of you living there.   How much is enough.   You have more available cash than you could ever spend in a lifetime yet you will do anyt...
