God’s one and only mistake is the same mistake Man continues to make

Many those of the Christian circles and some even with very little belief in God may say that God never makes mistakes and while I used to think that was true; I have discovered that he did.  The only issue with that is God was powerful enough, wise enough and loving enough to correct that mistake.  This is something we have yet to have full faith in saying about man. In the beginning, God demanded full obedience and was not afraid to wipe the slate clean and start over if those he created forgot to be thankful to him who created them.  We see the evidence in the story of Noah and of course the stories of Sodom and Gomorrah and the Walls of Jericho.  This was also evident by the Commandments Moses envisioned God wanted him to deliver to all his children and thus began the “fire and brimstone” preaching that so many stories have been written about.  It was only after destroying these places and losing so many good souls caught up in the sinfulness others tha...

When did Christmas stop meaning Christ?

Back in the day, the most celebrated holiday was Christmas but now it seems to have been replaced by others thought up by particular groups.  Christmas could be found in every single home with all proudly displaying bright lights, candles and good cheer.  Not so much today as now we wish to make it seem we must celebrate  Kwanzaa  and others like it instead.  It’s as if we have to choose between one and the other to prove something to someone much more important to us than we are to ourselves and that is a shame. Could it be that many who was first taught to believe in God, stopped and therefore felt an urgent need to replace it with something that they could celebrate?  Could it be that commercially we began to sell out our beliefs for what we were being told by a television show or advertisement?  Could it be that we gave up on what I believe the true meaning of Christmas is so that we may fit in with the majority or those we thought was the maj...

The Theater of Religion

I am sure, by now, many of you have heard the story of the 103 year old lady who was recently banned from a church she had attended since she was 13 years old and even the secretary of that church for a number of years.  Like most of you, when I first heard it I was upset because the God that I know is not the God that this church, and many others like it, don’t.  The God that I know accepts all regardless of color, sex, and even sins but apparently this church and its leaders seem to wish to develop what they call a place of God into their vision instead of leaving it to God to form that building as he/she sees fit.  Part of the story is presented below. The title of this article is “ 103-year-old Georgia woman banned from lifelong church ” from MyFoxAtlanta sourcing from TheGrio.com states “ A 103-year-old Georgia woman was recently banned from attending her lifelong Baptist church, causing a rift in the local community. reports, Genora Hamm Biggs has been worshipi...

Are the Tears we shed at Funerals simply a Selfish Act?

I ask this question because it is often the phrase uttered by those that attend the funeral that the one who has passed on left them.  That there was so much left unsaid and there was so much left to do.  We talk about how wonderful that person was and how much they are going to be missed.  We talk only of all the good that they done and hold tight to the old adage “never speak ill of the dead”.  We pretend that things would have turned around if they had stayed on earth just a little while longer and we make promises to them to remember the good times and take heed to the lesson that they taught us.  Some people even go as far as to say to the departed how they will change their lives and dedicate this change to their memory. While all that sounds good and would make excellent drama on television, one has to wonder just how truthful and unselfish it really is.  I mean just a few days before they died, were things really good between you?  Did you...

God’s New Message to the Masses

There is a very large part of the Christian movement which seems satisfied to remain in their current positions where they use both sides of the Bible to make their points and clarify their points of view about proper way to act and to serve God.   It is this that I wish to speak to all of you about and yes, it may appear controversial to some.   The purpose of this conversation is not to produce controversy but to expand our minds and attempt to make us the kind of opened and honest Christian God wishes us to be.   We were made in his image so I believe that our faith should be boundless as the celestial stars and not held bounded by to this earth.   We need to look beyond our natural horizons to see the vision that God has prepared for us.   Some may think that we have already reached the “promised land” but I believe that the promise land is still some distance off and to reach it, we must expand not our bounders but our heart, soul and minds. Let’s be...
