Gun Rights pale in comparison to another right the Right to Life
For
all those wanna-be bad asses in America that think the only way to solve a
problem is behind the butt of a gun, let me ask you a few questions. The true meaning of ownership is that which
you can take with you wherever you go even in death and since none of the
material things you covet, you are able to do that with, what is it that you
truly own. In death, all you will be
able to take with you is your soul so why is it not the most important
possession to protect? Why do we pretend
that what we purchase is worth the life of another person when it is not
something we can take with us where ever we go and why is it so important to
pretend to care about the plight of man on one hand while pulling that trigger
on another man from the other? How many
of you would be willing to be responsible for the taking of 10 lives simply
because you were so set on ridding the world of all those who don’t think or
act like you.
I
asked this because I ran into this article titled “Iran releases detained US sailors written by Barbara Morrill
for the Daily Kos and in it she reports that “Iran has released two United States Navy patrol boats and 10 crew
members who were described as “trespassing” in Iranian waters near a major
naval base, state news media reported on Wednesday. The Pentagon and the State Department said
that one of the boats had experienced mechanical problems en route to Bahrain
from Kuwait on a routine mission on Tuesday, and the Iranians appeared to have
accepted that explanation. The release
was announced shortly before 10 a.m. on an Iranian state-run news channel, IRINN.
“The detained U.S. Marines, after it was realized that their entry into Iran’s
territorial waters was unintentional, and after the Marines apologized, were
released into international waters in the Persian Gulf,” the channel reported,
attributing the statement to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. Secretary of State John Kerry expressed: his “gratitude to Iranian authorities for
their cooperation in quickly resolving this matter. … That this issue was
resolved peacefully and efficiently is a testament to the critical role
diplomacy plays in keeping our country safe, secure, and strong.”
Now
I understand your position that believes if our military is seen as so strong
that no other country would dare to mess with us, let me ask you to try and
understand this. All that is bull and we
all know it. You see, there will always
be someone making attempts to be the biggest bully on the hill and if that is
your position right now, rest assured someone will attempt to remove you and
replace you. This happens in all things
right now. We see our boss in a position
of power and strive to reach that position.
We see the bully in the playground and work very hard to unseat him/her
so that we could enjoy what we perceive that they are enjoying. We see the rich being able to buy and sell
whatever and whenever they want and we play the lottery and work our fingers to
the bone to one day are able to do the same.
For those who are still not convinced that possibly there is a better
way to still achieve all that you wish to achieve without it costing us our
souls, I ask you to consider this.
Could
it be that you still wish to saber-rattle because the cost of life is not your
own? Could it be that you have taken so many
lives that one more would not matter to you and the 10 crew members saved by
taking the diplomacy approach was expendable.
Can you look into the eyes of those parents, family and friends of those
you would have revenged and explain to them that a few minutes of diplomacy
could have brought those mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers back to them
unharmed but you think it’s best to shoot first and ask questions later? Please forgive us weaklings who think that
having only true ownership of our soul and making sure to protect that one and
only real possession, that wishing to sit down and talk instead of thirty paces
is best. It’s easy to sit back and
declare we should make parking lots out of any country that do not agree with
us but ask yourself this. Whose son,
daughter, mother, father, sister or brother is going to have to make that
happen, since it surely won’t be you?
