The Debate over Drone Strikes
Recently the media world
is all a buzzed about drone strikes killing Americans, while listening to their
argument against it, one can see their point.
I mean, who wants to be the one who receives a visit from their own
government with an order to kill you because they believe you are part of a
terrorist organization. You have got to
admit, this would not be the first time our government has gotten this
wrong. So here comes the ACLU, the
defender of all those abused by the system.
They step up to suck up all the camera time that they can to tell anyone
who will listen that they are on the case.
The “pure” liberals follow not too far behind them to get their 15
minutes of fame and renew their “holier than thou” status. I do
not begrudge them their points of the argument and have to honestly admit, that
their points do have merit. What bothers
me is their inability to present both sides of the argument instead on only
talking about theirs.
There is a great country
called America, where all your dreams can come true. You live near and around people who will go
out of their way to help you reach your goals.
You can get the best education ever and speak your mind about anything
and everything you wish. You have so
many freedoms that no other country enjoys that you can’t keep up with
them. Now you choose to give this up to
join an organization created to destroy this country. You feel superior to the years that this
country struggled through to become that great nation it is today. You thumb your nose at a country that gave
you so much. A country that bathed you
in freedoms and helped you reach your potential is now your enemy and you will
do all you can to see it destroyed. You
join and move to the head of an organization that promises to deliver. Now we all are supposed to be emotionally
charged because you were the target of a drone attack?
I understand that no one
should have the power to choose who lives or who dies but judges do it quite
often and not too many people complain.
I understand that American citizens should have the opportunity of a
trial to proclaim their innocence and no mortal has the power to determine any
one’s guilt, but juries do it all the time.
I understand that the Obama Administration should be compelled to
disclose these rules and regulations so that we may be able to make sure these
actions does not fall into the wrong hands and create a hierarchy where only
the rich and powerful are allowed to play.
Politicians are already willing to sacrifice the poor to preserve the
wealthy by restricting social security, Medicare, head start, food stamps, the
mortgage interest deductions, farm subsidies and so many others instead of
closing the loopholes for luxury yachts, corporate jets and oil companies’
subsidies. Imagine these individuals now
in charge of deciding who lives or dies because they find it quite easy to
manufacture evidence showing you as a member of some terrorist
organization. Photoshop will never be
more popular.
