New Age Hollywood Contributes to the Death of the Great Robin Williams
I am sure that you have heard about the death of
Robin Williams saying that it appears to be suicide. It is all over the news but the one thing
that many are not pointing to and I hope will soon be addressed later after the
shock has worn down is that these deaths are partly the fault of the new age
Hollywood and they should step up and take their share instead of just allowing
all of us to cast it on the commit-er of this crime.
I am sure that many of you are shaking your heads or
rolling your eyes right now because you think this is another excuse to avoid
responsibility by blaming it on the media but you could not be further from the
truth.
Consider this, a person who can
transform right before your eyes and become a whole host of different people
without smoke and mirrors. A person who
can make you laugh and quickly make you cry.
A person who can make you feel good about yourself one minute then make
you question and possibly doubt yourself the next. Whom you just imagined is the genius of Robin
Williams and this kind of God-given talent is not taught in any classroom. This God-given talent is buried deep within
your genes and only a few can ever reach that deep within themselves to pull it
out.
Now you take that kind of talent and you bottle it
to be used to make billions for those putting a price tag on it and then you
open the flood gates by cutting on a camera, pointing it in his directions and
letting it roll. When Robin Williams
stepped on set, it was a cue for the camera man to take his break because
anything that happens after that would be golden and not need editing. This was the life of Robin Williams and for
quite some time, it was both magical for those of us that watched and profitable
to those who financed it. That was then
and as he aged, Hollywood began to consider at what point it was time to retire
their golden goose. They were seeing it
as an opportunity to move in different direction and looking for that next “Robin
Williams” while the real Robin Williams were beginning to feel this disconnect
between him and that industry that he had fed the families of.
The range of Robin Williams were now being placed
back into a much smaller bottle than it was originally placed and that was too
much for him to take. His presence on
set was not that for which he had been known for but bite-sized for the
television audience. He was reduced from
a giant among actors to just enough to be seen but not heard. His abilities were now replaced by concentration
upon his gray hairs. The roles he
surprised all that he could play were no longer being offered to him because he
was yesterday’s news in the eyes of the new age Hollywood. New age Hollywood had younger bosses and the
Pepsi Generations didn't really appreciate the enormity that Robin Williams
brought to any film, they wanted that young, fresh face, one that they could
built into the next Robin. They wanted a
legacy and figured it would never be reached riding in on an old horse.
Imagine taking a treasure with the galactic brilliance
of a Robin Williams and packing it away in storage to break in case of an
emergency. Did no one think that an
enormous talent like that could not be contained or diminished? Robin Williams’ star must shine and it will
for as long as earth exists because a gift that great from God himself will
burn brightly regardless of anything man does.
