PTSD Suffers, Here’s a Remedy for those Sleepless Nights
So many
people are now becoming quick to say that they know about post-traumatic stress
disorder but very few can clearly explain what that is to the ones who suffer
it. It is then, therefore assumed, that
what might be true for one suffering will also be true regarding the rest of
us. They couldn’t be further from the
truth.
The basics
may be quite similar but the cure is not.
Probably because there is no real cure for PTSD. It cannot be erased by drugs nor its results
cured by counseling. It can only be
controlled. Controlled by the decisions
those who suffer from it makes. One of
the major common issues is the inability to sleep. Many have begun to take sleeping aids in
order to get that rest but to me those sleepless nights could be the beginning
of something great.
Use your
sleepless nights as a time to think of a few good things that you could do for
another person. Maybe someone in your
household or neighborhood. It does not
have to be anything fancy or expensive.
It could be something as simple as leaving a funny message in their
mailbox. Doing something good for
another person will always make you smile.
Doing something nice for another person removes those negative thoughts
that always enters your mind mostly uninvited and replaces them with a good
memory during a bad time. You see
post-traumatic stress is often times painful in a way that no medicine can cure
and makes the sufferer feel usless and unworthy of even breathing, so replacing
those negative feelings with the euphoria of doing something good can make all
of the difference in the world.
When it
comes to our veterans, removing evil from the world and restoring it to a place
of peace and calm has been and always will be our main mission. The same can be said for other performers
like, most law enforcement officers, firefighters, teachers, activists,
religious leaders and yes, even some politicians just to name a few. So when we replace that evil energy with a
positive more enjoyable energy, not only does it help the one who brings it but
those that they bring it to. So during
those times that you cannot sleep, do something positive even if it is
something small like writing something positive and leaving it so others can
read it.
