How do you Define Patriotism
Patriotism is defined as the love that people feel
for their country and while I truly cannot argue with that I do take offense at
the extension added to this definition by some who claim the title but refuse
to acknowledge that they do not have a clue to what they are talking about.
I speak of those who say that they love this country
yet will do all that they can to sell it out by forging ahead with bold,
discriminatory and selfish ideas delivered to them on platter of money. Look around and you will see exactly what I
am talking about. Politicians who claim
that they love this country but will disallow anyone else different from them
the chance to live their lives as they see fit.
I love this country but I am going to keep you from voting because you
don’t vote like I want you to. I love
this country but I am going to deny you the same rights and freedoms that I
wish to enjoy.
Average Americans who dresses in camouflage outfits
and gather millions of weapons to wage war against the government that they see
trampling all over the constitution.
These same Americans love this country and are prepared to die to defend
the rights of citizens not once thinking that those who stand on the opposite
side of their cause feel as strongly about defending the rights of citizens as
well and at what point does killing fellow Americans make you more of a patriot
than those you kill. Are we so enamored
with the Civil War that killing each other makes more sense? Because if memory serves, only during that
war was both sides stacked with Americans.
Or what about those who wore the uniform of the
United States Armed Forces but now have made a decision to create a major event
right here on this soil because they feel slighted in one form or another? You hesitate on questioning their patriotism because
they did wear the uniform at one time and you hesitate in not referring to them
as hero because they served. Yet and
still these same patriots delivers death and destruction to people in their own
country as they may have to those not.
My definition of patriotism is being a man or woman
about things, actions or decisions that you do not agree with face to
face. In other words instead of making a
dirty bomb to blow up in Times Square, make an appointment to sit down across the
table with that politician, business owner or lawmaker. This is how a true patriot solves
problems. A true patriot never needs
violence, aggression or an angry mob to solve an issue. A true patriot uses the tools that they have
learned whether on the battle field or off to correct the balance of
power. What you learn on the battlefield
is that everyone appears there for one reason or another and if it is their
defeat that you seek, the best way is to find out why they are there and take
that away. For that no one needs rifles,
rockets or grenades, the only weapon that you really need is a very defense
against their argument.
