Rockford’s Rich Black History Being Buried

Rockford’s rich black history began in 1834 when a young 22 year old slave by the name of Lewis Lemon, made the journey from what is now Galena Illinois to what is now Rockford Illinois via the Rock River with his then master Germanicus Kent and a fellow explorer, later turned school teacher/farmer Thatcher Blake. It is also known that approximately 4 plus years later, Lewis Lemon was able to purchases his freedom from Germanicus Kent but that is about as far as it goes.  Very little else is really known about Rockford’s first black founder except the little that can be found about him in some of the old journals and books carefully secured in certain places and of course the fact that he was buried in what is now referred to as Greenwood Cemetery with an inscription on his gravestone that reads “Born slave–Died Free”. THE BASIS OF BEHAVIOR

  To better understand our behavior, we must first begin where it all started. In the preliminary stages of conception, there is the oldest part of the brain called the amygdala. Within this amygdala is one cognitive component called the Mix Match Negative or MMN. The MMN informs the fetus body when it is time to form the parts of the body, but it also has another function which is to begin to record everything that occurs from that moment on including our reactions to them. This dynamic gets more become increasingly important as we age, develop, and grow. In the initial stages of development, it becomes our “go-to” safe harbor when anything happens that is close to or identical to what may have already happened. A Tree shall be Known by the Fruit that it Bears

  I find it quite humorous when I hear people claiming to be one thing or another.   Claiming to be a republican, a Democrat, or an Independent but the thing that seriously bothers me when people claim the title of Christian and yet act like a total hypocrite. Hypocrisy is defined as “the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense” and if we are to be honest with ourselves and those around us, not one person can ever claim to not have claimed to be one thing while their actions depict something else.   I don’t think that any one mortal can ever claim that they have not fallen into this trip at least one time or another in their lives.   Because we are human, and accidents happen, it is okay to admit that we have faults and work to fix them instead of covering them up but of course many of us will go to our earthly graves pretending that this has not or currently happened to them.
