The Four Renegades

Sorry Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow but I think that you might be wrong regarding “The Four Renegades”. Ben Nelson, Claire McCaskill, Joe Manchin and the other guy that I can’t remember.  Both of you spoke about these four escaping form the Democratic Reservation by looking at a way to change the “mandate” in the new healthcare law.  I must admit I thought the same when I first heard it but after listening to Ben Nelson explains it, I’m leaning more toward a different direction.

I am looking at them doing more than some others who also say that they support this president.  President Obama asked to have his feet kept to the fire but I do not believe that he wanted us to be the ones who traveled with the rope to tie him up as keeping his feet to the fire.  Anyone can sit around and complain about anything but to be of any assistance, you have to also be filled with solutions.  I hear a lot of disagreement but no solutions.  Getting back to the four renegades, I think that they sense so much crap about the “mandate” that they got together and decided to help by trying to find a solution to the problem.  Democrats seem to think that to be good and faithful party member you must fully support whatever decision is made and if you have another idea about what could make bills better do not announce it or you will be labeled a traitor or DINO (Democrat in Name Only).  I say that any help you can give this president and this administration is a good thing even if you think you have a better way to do something than the one he has.

Now don’t get it twisted, I typically trust Ben Nelson as fair as I could throw him and Joe Manchin hasn’t been around long enough to get a feel of which side his toast is buttered on but for a loyalist like Claire McCaskill to join this group causes me to think that they are on the path of good and not destruction.  Now I could be wrong and if I am, I will be the first to publicly apologize and proudly wear that 6-letter word S-U-C-K-E-R stamped on my forehead.     I just think it is time for us to help this president turn this country around by providing solutions to problems and welcoming opposition to the table for a better decision making process.  We have enough people armchair quarterbacking every decision he makes but refusing to lift a finger to help. Back when I was growing up in Tennessee, we used to have one guy standing or sitting around telling everyone else what to do, how to do it and when they were doing it wrong.  They never lift a finger to help but were always there to complain if it did not go the way he wanted it to.  We had a name for him.
